Welcome to Alex Mavradis Photography, Boston Massachusetts.

I have been photographing in New England for years,  and recently decided to go public with my photographs, to share the work with  friends and clients alike. What you see here is a fraction of my photographic output.


Photography is both an avocation and a hobby for me. Though I have clients who ask for photography for their business and personal lives, I like nothing more than to suit up with a camera and explore the field.  It is true that my professional work has ranged from weddings to architectural shots, and product photography, but the journey began with one person: my father. My first love in photography was working with him in his dark room creating black and white photographs.  A lot has changed since then, but not my love of the art.

I first learned the fundamentals of photography, with my father's old manual Exacta cameras, and over the years graduated into using Nikon 35mm single lens reflex cameras and more recently a Nikon digital slr..  Starting out I explored still life work, and moved onto model shooting, and street photography- and more recently commercial work in both digital and medium format, has bridged the gap of my personal portfolio.  Working in digital photography has offered great technological advances- and using Adobe Photoshop adds yet another layer  of experience to the process.  But photography is photography.

Photography is subjective. As they say, and  beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. It is my vision you are see on your computer screen.  It is my strong belief that a photographer, regardless of format, must tell a story, or make an impression with each image that is exposed.  To this end, many of my images are of places and things, buildings, artifacts inanimate- photographs for image sake.  But photographing  people is the most important work I do.   Capturing people is a skill that requires patience and ingenuity, and generally speaking, it is the most rewarding kind of photography.  We live by emotions, and I often strive to project emotions in my photographs.   To re-create the unique moment is a primary goal of mine, to freeze it in time, and pass it on for generations.

Explore the images on the site, and keep one thing in mind.  Technology is good,  but technology itself is no substitution for the eye, and the creative decisions one makes to arrive at the finished photograph.  The ability to make those decisions for the client is where I excel.  So it is not the camera, or the high tech gizmo that makes a photograph, but the photographer.  So yes, if you like what you see, hire me for your next occasion, portrait, or to help your business! Portrait photography done on location or in studio, model photography

Event photography for both profit and non-profit organizations. Event photography with as few as ten people to several hundred. Church events, birthdays, public events, business events. weddings. anniversaries.

Specialty in event photography and portrait photography, using individual strobes, backdrops, soft boxes, reflectors and other lighting equipment.
Prefer the traditional (classic) style of photography for portraits but also non-traditional styles according to the customers needs.

Stock photographer with a building supply of images that include a variety of environmental situations.

Art photography in black and white and color film.

Experienced in auto focus cameras and manual focus.

Experience in Adobe Photoshop7, Microsoft Word and Excel Powerpoint.

All digital darkroom work done on a Mac's 80gb G4 hard drive.
A Canon flat bed scanner with 35mm to 6x7 format film.

Use an Epson 1280 printer producing images up to 13x42 inches.

Nikon camera equipment. Digital and film.

Nikon 4000 slide and film scanner

Can assemble transparencies for presentations as powerpoint or dissolving affect shows with music or diologue.
